L’Oreal Elvive ‘Fibrology’ Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner
Released a couple of months ago with much hype, this haircare range contains a substance called Filloxane which penetrates into and then expands each hair strand from within to create, L’Oreal claim,”80% more body and bounce”. It actually increases the diameter of each hair apparently, and remains in the fibre for a long-lasting, cumulative effect.
I found that this genuinely did make my hair feel thicker from the first wash (which is actually quite an odd feeling) and it did indeed feel a little bulkier and fuller with each wash, so it does definitely seem to have a cumulative effect, as L’Oreal claim. The downside is that my hair felt drier and looked less shiny while I was using it, which is not great, as I already have long, dry and slightly damaged hair. I also noticed that my hair colour seemed to be fading faster than usual – although this could actually be a hidden benefit, if you want to get rid of a hair colour that you tried and didn’t like!
I think this range is definitely worth a try if you have very fine or thinning hair that is not dry, damaged or coloured – but you must use it consistently for the full effect. As soon as I stopped using it, I found that my hair returned to its normal thickness.
